About me

I am originally Ukrainian, currently residing in Jordan (Middle East). I have graduated with a Business Administration degree, and spent 5 years working in non-corporate and corporate sectors in Ukraine, Hungary, and Jordan. I have also graduated from music school (piano class), sing in a local choir, and generally love music.

A year ago I was asked to give a music class for an autistic girl. That's where I learned about the idea of music therapy, and how music can be used as a tool to help improve lives of others. I have become a passionate supporter of it, and decided to get into the field.

I have started this blog for few reasons:
  • to spread awareness about the practice of music therapy in the region
  • to share my own struggles, challenges and ideas on how to use music for development of special needs children. I really appreciate any feedback you might have, and that's why decided to upload everything from programs to activities on this blog for peer review
  • to collect useful Arabic language resources that can be used in music therapy setting
I do not have professional training in the field, except my music school background, and my experience with special needs kids. I am grateful to J., an American certified music therapist, who has been kind to provide me with books, research, and ability to observe her in some of her classes.

Note! I am a not a fluent Arabic speaker, though I do speak Arabic in my sessions. Most of the songs are either taken from websites, or translated from English versions by my husband. If you see any mistake in wording or grammar, please let me know, so that I can correct those.

I would be thankful for any comment, feedback, and suggestions to the activities I use, programs I prepare, and ways I work with the children.

Welcome! :)
